About Essential Blinds, Maitland

Every opening in the house. One job, one hand.

Most houses get their window coverings piecemeal: rollers from a roller company, an awning from an awning company, curtains from a third, each seller recommending what it happens to make. We built Essential Blinds around the other way of doing it.

AB.1 The idea

Advice that isn't captive to a product.

We measure, make and fit all four categories: interior blinds, shutters, awnings and outdoor blinds, and curtains. That breadth is not a boast about stock; it is what makes the advice honest. When the person at your window can spec any of the four, the recommendation follows the opening's job rather than the seller's catalogue.

So a west-facing slider can be answered with an outdoor blind even though you asked about rollers. A bathroom can come back as a shutter. A living room that needed dressing more than darkening ends up with curtains. And a hallway window that needs nothing is told exactly that.

The document this produces is a window schedule: every opening listed, its job named, its covering decided. One measure visit, one schedule, one written quote. It is the way a commercial fit-out is specified, applied to a Hunter home.

AB.2 How we work

The method, in four lines.

i You enquire Through the form, in your own words. A schedule from our planning tool helps, but "new house, nothing on the windows" is plenty.
ii We measure everything once Inside and out, in one visit. Reveal depths, drops, spans, sun, access. Each opening gets a recommendation and a reason.
iii You get one written quote The whole schedule, opening by opening, priced from real measurements. No pressure at the kitchen bench, no tonight-only number.
iv Made to measure, then fitted Each covering manufactured to its opening's numbers and installed properly, with corded products fitted to the mandatory child-safety standard and any hardwired motor connected by a licensed electrician.

AB.3 What we won't do

Straight answers, and a few refusals.

You will not find prices on this site, because a made-to-measure price invented before the measure is a guess wearing a suit. You will not find review scores or install counts here either; we would rather show you the method and let the measure visit make the case.

And we will not sell an opening more covering than its job needs. The schedule exists to get the house right, not to get the invoice up. When the honest line for a window is "leave it bare", that is the line on the sheet.

The full disclosures live on the terms page, written to be read.

AB.4 Where we work

Maitland first, the Hunter with it.

The growth estates of Rutherford and Aberglasslyn, Thornton, Chisholm and Gillieston Heights, the established streets of East Maitland, Ashtonfield and Metford, and the period homes of Lorn and Morpeth: different houses, same method. Out past the town edge, wine-country acreage gets the verandah and the bedrooms scheduled in the same visit.

All areas, in detail

The name Essential is the standard we hold the schedule to: every opening covered for the job it actually has, nothing gold-plated, nothing missed. The essentials, done completely.
